Edwards and Kelcey, Inc. (EK) has recently acquired KKO's transportation
planning practice. This page presents an overview of the former KKO
offerings now provided by EK.
The transportation planning
practice specializes in technical assignments such as the development
of operating plans, cost models, and demand and revenue forecasts. Many
assignments involve the application of computerized tools for transportation
planning and evaluation. A partial list of service offerings includes:
Service and Operations
Planning
Corridor Studies
Network Analysis
Major Investment Studies
Market Research
Feasibility Studies
Cost and Revenue Studies
Crew and Vehicle Scheduling
Travel Demand Analysis
EK's Transportation Planning
projects have covered all surface modes and a wide variety of issue areas.
They generally cover four basic categories:
Transit Planning
EK's planners have provided transit planning and analysis services for
a variety of clients ranging from the world's largest transit systems
to small one-bus operations in northern New England.
Corridor Studies
EK has supported a variety of clients in evaluating transportation improvement
options for travel corridors. These corridors range from urban interstate
highways to rural scenic roadways.
Passenger Railroads
EK has extensive experience in the design, development and evaluation
of regional and commuter rail services. Our staff has been instrumental
in the development of new startup operations in Florida and Texas and
in the general renaissance of commuter rail in the United States. EK
has successfully completed planning and analysis projects for almost
every commuter railroad in North America and supported rail passenger
clients on every continent.
Rail Freight Operations
EK also supports the planning and analysis needs of freight operators
with planning and analytical studies. We specialize in the development
of costing models for decision-making and in the abstraction and integration
of data to support empirical studies. EK's freight work has included
clients on four continents ranging from national carriers to short line
operators.
